Gearing for Change
The Brief
A private hospital with a Mental Health clinic has asked to review and develop their outpatient program. They currently have an existing inpatient program for those staying in the hospital, but yet to launch one for individuals living in the community.
The main focus was to deliver psychology and counselling education for patients with Alcohol & Other Drugs and Mental Health issues.
The materials and facilitation need to be delivered in-person at the hospital, with resources provided to patients each week.
The Solution
The project involved an audit and review of the hospital’s existing resources and inpatient program.
In collaboration with the clinic multidisciplinary team, the inpatient program was adapted and revised to suit the outcomes for outpatients.
The content and resource guides were then redeveloped to align with learning design and multimedia design principles.
The Outcomes
Tailored program delivery for outpatients living in the community.
Multimedia and print resources aligned to design principles, and improvements on accessibility and learning of course content.
Positive feedback from participants for the increased weekly counselling support made available via the program.
